Household help

What each person who works in your home is owed at the end of the month, with leave, half-days, extra days, advances and bonuses worked in.

A maid, a cook or a driver is paid a monthly salary for an agreed set of working days, with some leave allowed. At the end of the month the sum is done on paper: how many days were missed, how many of those were allowed, what one day is worth, and what was already given as an advance. Trove does that sum.

Find it under Money → Recurring costs → Household help, or at /household.

Setting someone up

Marking the month

Presence is the default. Only mark the exceptions:

An absence on a day off, or an extra day on a working day, is not counted, and the card says so.

The arithmetic

leave taken   = absences + half-days x 0.5
unpaid days = leave taken - (leave allowed + leave carried in), not below 0
cut           = unpaid days x a day's pay
extra pay     = extra days x a day's pay
to pay = salary - cut + extra pay + bonus - advance, not below 0

Someone who joins or leaves part-way through a month is paid for the part they worked, and earns a share of that month's leave.

Paying

Mark paid asks how the money was given (cash, UPI or bank transfer), records the amount as an expense under Household help, and closes the month: its days and advances can no longer change. Undo removes the expense and reopens the month.

The figures on a paid month are frozen. A raise from next month never rewrites what was paid before it. Unused leave carries forward only from a month that has been paid, because until then nobody has agreed what was left of it.
